Whoa, is that webOS 2.0 we see on the horizon? No, sorry, it definitely isn’t — but we can say with relative confidence that the upcoming Pixi will be shipping with a newer, slightly more feature-rich version of webOS than its Pre brethren around the world; if nothing else, Synergy supports Yahoo on the new model, as PreCentral observes. What remains to be seen is the exact version number that’ll be shipping out of the gate — recent DSLReports user agent logs suggest that 1.2.9 might be the gold build (for the record, the Sprint Pre currently rocks 1.2.1), but apparently there’s some chatter going on about a 1.3 as well

Beta version of Firefox 3.6 for Mac now available
Like it or not, we’ve got it on pretty reasonable authority that HTC’s first “DROID” phone is nothing more than a rebadged, shape-shifted Hero (something we’ve been hearing for a while now ), and that it’ll be launching on Verizon on November 6th, the same day as Motorola’s DROID . That means Android 1.5 “Cupcake,” Sense UI, 3.2-inch screen, 528MHz processor and so forth. The Eris will retail for $199 but with a $100 mail-in rebate.

All the engineers in the audience will be pleased to hear that Globalfoundries today announced that the very first 28nm ARM Cortex A9 dual-processor qualification vehicle has now been taped out.
T-mobile have now confirmed, via their Scoop page , that the upcoming T-mobile G2 will rock an 800MHz Scorpion processor (as part of the new MSM7x30 Snapdragon chipset), run the Android hotness that is Froyo (sans Sense, as previously thought ), and will also be “ready” for flash 10.1. Now, those in the audience with an insatiable appetite for teh megahurtzes will probably be disappointed to hear that the clock is a full 200MHz slower than the usual 1GHz Snapdragon that most all high-end phones are gifted with.
T-mobile is really going to draw out this whole limited knowledge launch of the G2 . This time, though, we have some confirmation on what you can actually expect. It is well known that this will be the first HSPA+ phone , and T-mobile is telling you to “brace yourself for blazing-fast downloads, browsing and search” on the “fastest smartphone experience in America.” Another note, and I do not get sick of posting this, vanilla Android 2.2 out of the box with one-touch quick keys (for quick access to Google shortcuts and applications) and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 ready (which probably means you will have to download it from the market yourself). T-Mobile is also confirming that that Qualcomm MSM 7230 Scorpion silicone will be clocked at 800 MHz. I know some of you wish it was clocked up to 1 GHz, but you need to remember that GHz isn’t everything. Nothing really new there, but some official confirmation is always good. A trusted tipster has dropped off word that the release date for the next phone in the myTouch lineup will drop November 3 rd at your local T-Mobile store. That lovely little roadmap we’ve been following so closely I believe if I am reading it correctly states that the Emerald is dropping November 5 th , then again it could be a 3, its blurry as can be in this picture.

Another day, another rumor. Yesterday we heard about merging with Sprint , but what about surpassing them? Well, it is very possible that that could happen if this particular rumor came true. It’s not the first time we have been on this roller coaster, but yet another analyst says the iPhone is coming to T-Mobile. Tee Examiner’ s source says “There were talks about it, then strong rumors. Then, there were problems with the carrier. But now, the iPhone will definitely be available for T-Mobile.” Is there any reason to believe this iPhone rumor over any other iPhone rumor
iOS 4.1, which has had a few beta releases over the last couple months, has been released. It’s nothing too major, but let’s go down the additions: Updated Game Center HDR photos HD video uploads over WiFi TV show rentals It should be arriving next week.
Just last week, a couple of much-trusted birdies popped into the MobileCrunch office, claiming to have some details on SkyFire (a Flash-friendly mobile browser already available on a number of smartphone platforms) and its impending iPhone release. “They’ve entered the very final round of testing!” they said. “It’s going to get submitted to Apple early next week!” We’re one day past what we’d personally consider “early next week”, but sure enough: SkyFire has just announced that they’ve submitted the browser for Apple’s oh-so-important stamp of approval.
It seems like just yesterday, we were fighting our way through traffic on the way to Apple’s iPhone 4 antenna press conference. Today, we’re joining Apple for something a bit less out-of-the-blue: their annual September product announcement in San Francisco.
Now I know that the Froyo update for the Incredible was released on the 27th of this month, but that was just one of those limited-release roll-outs used to weed out any major faux pas before making it available to the great unwashed. If you weren’t lucky enough to get that joyous notification this past week, well, hold onto your hats, coz word on the web/streets is that the Froyo update is now being pushed out to all users. If this is the first you’ve heard of the Froyo update, and you’re peachy-keen (and you should be) to get it onto your device ASAP, then Android Central have a how-to on manually updating your phone.
T-mobile continues to bring the latest update to their 3G network to more cities today, with the “4G-like” HSPA+ speeds now available in: Boston, Mass. Erie, Penn.
