They won’t see you coming: the XAI Laser Mouse with LCD

February 28, 2010 IT News No Comments

What do people look for in their gaming mice? We spoke with SteelSeries in the past about the company’s distrust of DPI as the last word in mouse quality. The company’s XAI Laser Mouse reflects this philosophy when it comes to design: the mouse is unpretentious, functional, and features software that will help you learn to use the mouse to its fullest.

HTC Desire’s Sense UI ported to Droid; HTC, Motorola cringe

February 28, 2010 IT News No Comments

If you work for Motorola, cover your ears and say “Blur Blur Blur Blur” at the top of your lungs over and over again for the duration of this post, because what we’re about to present is an unholy marriage the likes of which neither Sanjay Jha nor Peter Chou ever intended. It’s not the first time we’ve heard of a version of Sense finding its way onto Motorola hardware, but developer “thegeektern” over on AllDroid has posted a bunch of video and stills claiming to have ported an HTC Desire’s (n

Opera 10.50 Release Candidate For Windows

February 28, 2010 IT News No Comments

Software company Opera has just released the release candidate of Opera 10.50 for the Microsoft Windows operating system. That’s an incredible pace considering that the first beta releases was a little bot more than 14 days ago although they did not make it in time to be included in Microsoft’s browser choice screen for Windows users who are running Internet Explorer as their default web browser (which we suspected was the reason for the fast paced development process). Could also be that they do not want the Chrome developer’s to come any closer version wise.

My oil droplet is smarter than your lab mouse

February 28, 2010 IT News No Comments

One of the images that says “science experiment” to the public is that of a rat finding its way through an experimenter’s maze. We tend to associate the ability of rats to quickly solve mazes with their navigational skills and intelligence. Mazes also present an interesting challenge to robotics researchers, who can use them to test the navigation skills of their creations

Viliv S5 MID gets accuracy-boosting HID driver for Windows 7

February 28, 2010 IT News No Comments

Viliv’s S5 MID, the little machine that packs the Vaio P ‘s Z520 processor in a legitimately pocketable form-factor, just got a breath of fresh air. It’s an HID (human interface device) driver for Windows 7, boosting the machine’s touchscreen abilities and enabling the breadth of Windows 7′s tablet functionality. According to Uber Tablet this greatly enhances usability by, amongst other things, presenting the Windows tablet keyboard rather than relying on the accessibility version and enabling better calibration

LG’s 15-inch 15EL9500 OLED TV sets sail for Europe, scheduled to arrive this May

February 28, 2010 IT News No Comments

We’ve had only tantalizingly brief (or is it briefly tantalizing?) chances to see LG’s glorious OLED television , but each and every time it’s left us with the feeling that our lives are poorer for not having one in our homes. Sure, that says as much about our tech addiction as it does about the 3mm-thick displays, but at least the deep-pocketed among us won’t have to wait too much longer to sate the need for 10,000,000:1 contrast ratios and 0.001ms response times

T-mobile G2 will rock an 800MHz Scorpion CPU, Froyo, Flash 10.1

September 2, 2010

T-mobile have now confirmed, via their Scoop page , that the upcoming T-mobile G2 will rock an 800MHz Scorpion processor (as part of the new MSM7x30 Snapdragon chipset), run the Android hotness that is Froyo (sans Sense, as previously thought ), and will also be “ready” for flash 10.1. Now, those in the audience with an insatiable appetite for teh megahurtzes will probably be disappointed to hear that the clock is a full 200MHz slower than the usual 1GHz Snapdragon that most all high-end phones are gifted with.

More Revealed About the G2

September 2, 2010

T-mobile is really going to draw out this whole limited knowledge launch of the G2 .  This time, though, we have some confirmation on what you can actually expect.  It is well known that this will be the first HSPA+ phone , and T-mobile is telling you to “brace yourself for blazing-fast downloads, browsing and search” on the “fastest smartphone experience in America.”  Another note, and I do not get sick of posting this, vanilla Android 2.2 out of the box with one-touch quick keys (for quick access to Google shortcuts and applications) and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 ready (which probably means you will have to download it from the market yourself).  T-Mobile is also confirming that that Qualcomm MSM 7230 Scorpion silicone will be clocked at 800 MHz.  I know some of you wish it was clocked up to 1 GHz, but you need to remember that GHz isn’t everything.  Nothing really new there, but some official confirmation is always good.  The rest of the scroll box, from the Scoop page, can be found below.  Don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments! Here We Go Again, T-Mobile and iPhone Rumors Persist

September 1, 2010

Another day, another rumor.  Yesterday we heard about merging with Sprint , but what about surpassing them?  Well, it is very possible that that could happen if this particular rumor came true.  It’s not the first time we have been on this roller coaster, but yet another analyst says the iPhone is coming to T-Mobile.  Tee Examiner’ s source says “There were talks about it, then strong rumors. Then, there were problems with the carrier. But now, the iPhone will definitely be available for T-Mobile.”  Is there any reason to believe this iPhone rumor over any other iPhone rumor

September 1, 2010

Just last week, a couple of much-trusted birdies popped into the MobileCrunch office, claiming to have some details on SkyFire (a Flash-friendly mobile browser already available on a number of smartphone platforms) and its impending iPhone release. “They’ve entered the very final round of testing!” they said. “It’s going to get submitted to Apple early next week!” We’re one day past what we’d personally consider “early next week”, but sure enough: SkyFire has just announced that they’ve submitted the browser for Apple’s oh-so-important stamp of approval.

Droid Incredible Froyo update now rolling out to the masses. For real.

September 1, 2010

Now I know that the Froyo update for the Incredible was released on the 27th of this month, but that was just one of those limited-release roll-outs used to weed out any major faux pas before making it available to the great unwashed. If you weren’t lucky enough to get that joyous notification this past week, well, hold onto your hats, coz word on the web/streets is that the Froyo update is now being pushed out to all users. If this is the first you’ve heard of the Froyo update, and you’re peachy-keen (and you should be) to get it onto your device ASAP, then Android Central have a how-to on manually updating your phone.
