HTC hasn’t said much on the subject of Honeycomb for its Flyer tablet since its big announcement back at Mobile World Congress, where it said it chose not to use the OS for the tablet because it didn’t have enough time to customize it with its Sense UI .

Microsoft is adding support for NFC (near field communication) to its Windows Phone mobile operating system, according to a report citing unnamed sources over on Bloomberg Businessweek . NFC technology, which allows for short range wireless communication between two devices for the purpose of data exchange, is a key component to the upcoming mobile payment and mobile wallet systems now reportedly under development at Google, RIM and Apple as well as the new carrier-led initiative Isis , a coalition of three of the four major cellular providers here in the U.S. Support for NFC technology in Windows Phone 7 will be released via an update to Microsoft’s mobile operating system, sources told Bloomberg reporters.

We’re checking out IDC’s newest report for the first quarter of 2012 showing Google’s Android platform continuing it’s march toward global domination as its market-share climbs to 59%, with Apple a distant second at 23%.

Deutsche Telekom CEO Rene Obermann spoke this morning during his company’s investors call and said that a T-Mobile merger is still an option, though an outright sale is more than likely off the table.

Some low-key news today as the T-Mobile Prism has already been available through the likes of Best Buy and Walmart since the beginning of May. Today does the mark the day however, that the Prism is available through T-Mobile owned retail stores as well T-Mobile.com.
